From July 13-16, 2020, Democrats from all over the country will gather together in the City of Milwaukee to participate in the Democratic National Convention, where we will nominate the next President of the United States. The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) is assembling a diverse team with skills in community engagement, event logistics, finance, operations, IT, and more under the leadership of Tom Perez, Chair, and Joe Solmonese, Chief Executive Officer. The DNCC team will oversee and deliver on all aspects of the planning and execution of this Convention, from housing the delegates to convening Platform Committee meetings to producing the Convention’s live programming, which will be seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world.



The Associate Director of Studio 2020 is responsible for the DNCC’s in house live-broadcast studio. Studio 2020 provides surrogates the platform to deliver messaging to key states via satellite TV interviews, radio call in interviews, podcast interviews, and other creative digital engagement opportunities. 


The Communications Department is responsible for creating and implementing the communications strategy, messaging, and narrative for the Democratic National Convention. The goals of the Communications Department is to generate enthusiasm and crafting a compelling narrative leading up to the Convention. The Communications Department will accomplish this through working with local and national media, creating a robust digital presence, and engaging with and deploying key surrogates to further the reach of our messaging. 



  • The Associate Director of Studio 2020 reports to the Director of Communications and Surrogate Operations. 

  • The Associate Director of Studio 2020 will be responsible for managing and overseeing consultants, technical personnel, interns and volunteers. 



  • Develop and oversee studio programming strategy, design, and build of Studio 2020. 

  • Serve as key studio content and operations lead and manage relationships with key studio partners and consultants.. 

  • Work closely with Technology and Hall Department counterparts to ensure all technical and space needs are met.  

  • Manage production and day to day operations of the Studio, including technical personnel, consultants and volunteers. 

  • Coordinate with the Associate Director of Surrogates to ensure a smooth booking system and to maximize surrogate availability in the most strategic and streamlined way. 

  • Foster overall content and messaging strategy. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 



  • Newsroom or broadcast production experience required. 

  • Experience working with senior principles, celebrities, and other notable and honorary guests.            

  • Digital media and post-production experience a plus.

  • Strong time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities, solve problems, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Extremely well organized with superior attention to detail. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, sense of humor and ability to work well on a team. 

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong problem solving and creative thinking skills. 

  • Flexibility and openness to evolving responsibilities. 

  • Willingness to be a proactive team member to help accomplish the goals of the Convention.


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The DNCC will mainly operate out of the Headquarters Office, but will also maintain a number of satellite offices and additional venues. These spaces range from professional office environments to construction sites, and will require the operation of office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. This position requires the ability to frequently stand and/or walk for both short and long periods of time. Employees may be asked to do tasks requiring dexterity or lifting items weighing up to 10 pounds.  All employees may request a reasonable accommodation to perform their job tasks.






TRAVEL: This job will require occasional travel – less than 10%.
