Overview

Collier Collective, LLC, a public interest strategy, advocacy, and coalition-building firm located in Washington, DC is hiring an experienced Policy Associate to provide federal policy analysis, research, and writing; legislative monitoring; client representation before Congress and the Administration; event planning and preparation; attendance at coalition meetings and events; administrative support; and other key work functions.  Qualified candidates will be self-motivated, organized, accurate, and skilled communicators (both written and verbal) who can work well independently and as part of a team.  Qualified candidates will have at least three years of full-time experience working in a political environment, such as on Capitol Hill, and/or in a public interest setting on social justice policy and advocacy issues.  Experience working on federal appropriations, criminal justice reform, or health care policy is a plus.  Lived experience in any of the issues mentioned also is a plus.  Salary is competitive and based on experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
•    Provide legislative, policy, advocacy, and administrative support to Collier Collective, LLC
•    Research and analyze policy issues
•    Support and track appropriations-related events and requirements, including hearings, mark ups, Member request deadlines, Dear Colleague letters, and testimony submission
•    Meet with Congressional and Administration staff to discuss relevant legislative and policy issues
•    Track, monitor, and report on legislative process using congress.gov, online tools, and media
•    Support the development and preparation of materials for use in legislative meetings, presentations, briefings, lobby days, trainings, and other events
•    Draft a range of documents, including letters, fact sheets, and briefing memos
•    Attend Congressional hearings, legislative and policy briefings, and coalition meetings on behalf of Collier Collective, LLC and its clients, and report on these events (verbally and/or in writing)
•    Work with clients, vendors, and partners to organize events, such as Congressional briefings, tours of community-based organizations/programs, and lobby days
•    Schedule/coordinate meetings, teleconferences, coalition/workgroup meetings, webinars, and other events and provide logistical support as needed
•    Develop and coordinate action alerts related to the legislative cycle for a range of issues

Requirements
•    Bachelor’s degree required, and advanced degree in law or public policy preferred
•    Knowledge of and experience with the federal legislative process
•    Ability to use G Suite and advanced Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Power Point
•    Social media experience and savvy, including experience using Twitter and Facebook for advocacy
•    Ability to work in fast paced environment and juggle multiple tasks
•    Highly organized, including good time management skills
•    Ability to work independently with moderate supervision, but can ask questions when needed
•    Ability to work with diverse populations, including Members of Congress and Congressional staffers; advocates; individuals impacted by the criminal justice system (youth and adults); medical providers and health care consumers; celebrities/VIPs; community-based organizations; non-profits; associations; and foundations
•    Ability to work in a DC-based office, attend meetings in the DC metro area, and telecommute.
