About the Position:
Reporting to the Director of Finance (DoF), the Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial tasks for UltraViolet, UltraViolet Action, and UltraViolet PAC, and supporting the DoF in overall management of UltraViolet’s finances.
Staff Accountant Job Description:
Finance & accounting management
Manage accounts payable/accounts receivable
Maintain the general ledgers for UltraViolet, UltraViolet Action, and UltraViolet PAC
Prepare and post monthly general journal entries
Post monthly third-party accounts receivable and prepare accounts receivable report
Perform monthly general ledger accounts reconciliation
Support staff and manage processes for completing monthly reimbursements and credit card reports
Assist the Director of Organizational Development with payroll and benefits processes as needed
Financial reporting and statements
Create financial reports as needed for foundation and donors
Create financial reports as needed for UV board of directors and executive team
Track financial transactions related to donations
Support the DoF to complete and submit mandated tax filings to city, state, and federal government
Support the DoF on audit and tax preparation, including 1099 forms and 990 filings
Support the DoF to ensure that effective internal controls and fiscal policies are in place; ensure compliance with GAAP and compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
5+ years of experience with general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting
Thorough knowledge of and proficiency with QuickBooks
A thorough understanding of GAAP
Familiarity with accounting requirements for and structure of both 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations and political action committees.
Ability to handle multiple, complex tasks and priorities and to adhere to deadlines
Unparalleled attention to detail
College degree with accounting major, preferred, or equivalent experience and on-the-job training
