End Citizens United/Let America Vote Mission: To fix our democracy by getting big money out of politics and protecting the right to vote. We will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. We will work in partnership with these champions to overturn the Citizens United decision, end the unlimited and undisclosed money in politics, and protect and expand the right to vote.

Reports to: Deputy Director of State and Local Campaigns

Position Summary: This intern will be a vital member of ECU/LAV’s State and Local team, who will provide administrative support to our non-federal endorsement and candidate support program that involves races across the country. This election cycle, our program is focused on Attorney General and Secretary of State races in battleground states as well as state legislative races.


  • Tracking campaigns through compiling daily news clips and race updates.
  • Drafting memorandums on candidates in key battleground states.
  • Providing administrative support to the State and Local Campaigns department such as note taking and research.
  • Assist ECU/LAV staff by monitoring the front desk and answering the phone on the days you are in the office.


  • A willingness to learn, especially about state and local campaigns and races.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Candidates with a basic understanding of how race, class, and other identity markers intersect with our work in advocacy and electoral campaigns will be prioritized.
  • A passion for the issues of campaign finance reform and voting rights.
  • Live in or relocate to DC, Maryland, or Virginia for the duration of the internship. ECU utilizes a flexible hybrid work-from-home and in-office policy.

Interns will also benefit from the ECU/LAV Intern Educational Program, which supports individuals who are new to the progressive political space by providing skill-building sessions on interviewing and resume and cover letter writing, group informational interviews with staffers in the progressive political space both inside and outside of ECU/LAV, and panels on post-graduate opportunities. Interns will also gain an extensive DC network through connecting with ECU/LAV staff members.

This is a paid position of $15.50/hour with a start date in early to mid June and a flexible end date. Interns can work up to 35 hours/week throughout the summer. ECU utilizes a flexible hybrid work-from-home and in-office policy. The deadline to apply is April 3, 2022.

Our selection process for this position will consist of a video interview and a reference check.

Physical Demands: Our DC office space is a professional office environment and this position requires the typical demands of that workspace. This position mainly uses an assigned workstation with computer use, but may require movement or maintaining a stationary position for short or long periods of time. Employees may rarely be asked to do tasks requiring dexterity or lifting items, such as stuffing envelopes or lifting boxes. All employees may request a reasonable accommodation to perform their job tasks.
