JOB CLASSIFICATION: ENTRY-LEVEL CAREER FIREFIGHTER/EMT

Snohomish County Fire District 17 is creating an eligibility list for entry-level career firefighter/EMT candidates. Candidates meeting the eligibility requirements must complete a FireTEAM test administered by the National Testing Network (valid for up to one year) and possess a valid CPAT (within the last 12 months). Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list used by Snohomish County Fire District 17.

The Fire District requires the candidate to complete the PHQ (Personal History Questionnaire). Applicants can access the questionnaire through their NTN candidate account. The PHQ must be completed by the closing date, or you may not be considered further in the process.

All testing by National Testing Network (FireTEAM valid for up to 1 year) and a valid CPAT (within the past 12 months) must be completed by 12:00 p.m. on July 30th, 2024.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Eighteen years of age at the time of employment.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Speak and write the English language
  • United States Citizenship or Alien authorized to work in the United States
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License with a good driving record
  • Currently certified as a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) or current NREMT with the ability to possess Washington State EMT within one month of employment.
  • Possess IFSAC Firefighter I and IFSAC Hazardous Materials Operations certificates and must obtain IFSAC Firefighter II certification within one year of full-time employment.
  • Salary Information: $6,719.45/month (2025 rate, 80% of senior firefighters)

Department Overview: Granite Falls Fire is a combination department with 23 full-time employees and 20 part-time employees.  The call volume for 2023 was 2,781 alarms.

Area Information: Serving the City of Granite Falls and the surrounding 50.5 square miles of mostly rural unincorporated Snohomish County.
