The Woodburn Police Department is currently hiring Entry Level Police Officers to perform a variety of law enforcement duties, such as responding to and investigating diverse incident scenes, patrolling assigned areas, enforcing laws and ordinances, making arrests, preserving crime scene evidence, summarizing events in report format; and performing preventative community policing for culturally diverse neighborhoods and may be assigned to specialized units or teams in the department.

Each member of our organization is a vital component in providing leadership and confidence to our citizens through education as well as enforcement. WPD Officers are equipped with the tools and training necessary to be effective and contemporary when serving the community. Many department members are instructors and leaders not only in law enforcement but also in service and community organizations.
Salary Information: $32.84 – 53.52 Hourly

Area Information: Woodburn is a city in Marion County, Oregon. Incorporated in 1889, the community was platted in 1871 after the arrival of the railroad. The city is located at the northern end of the Willamette Valley along Interstate 5 between Portland and Salem. Oregon routes 211, 214, 219, and 99E also serve the city, as do Union Pacific and Willamette Valley Railway freight rail lines.
Woodburn is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area and is the third most populous city in that area after Salem and Keizer. The majority of the city’s population identifies as Hispanic or Latino. The Woodburn area also has a significant population of Russian Orthodox Old Believers.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Be at least 21 years old at date of hire,
Be a U.S. Citizen or have the ability to become one within 18 months of hire,
Participate in competitive testing including reading comprehension, writing skills, written, physical/vision, hearing, and psychological examinations, and be able to pass strict Police Department background investigation and drug testing.
Pass the pre-employment drug test.
Pass the pre-employment background check.
Be able to work periodic overtime and a variety of 24-hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends.
Education
High School graduate or have completed a G.E.D.
Certifications/Licenses
Ability to complete departmental recruit training course and to gain eligibility for Basic Certificate issued by the Oregon Board of Public Safety Standards and Training, including passing the ORPAT within the required time frames under the law.
