IMPACT MANAGER – Women & Democracy Initiative and Other Strategic Projects
THE OPPORTUNITY: Leadership Now seeks a full-time Impact Manager with an MBA, MPA, other advanced degree or equivalent work experience (3+ years in relevant fields). The role involves driving the growth of our organization, focusing on mobilizing women business leaders nationally and strengthening state-level leadership and political power.
Activities include:
- Strategy Development
- Project Management: organizing and driving agendas of members, academic experts, business leaders, partners organizations and candidates/elected officials
- Financial/impact analysis of strategic investments that further Leadership Now’s mission
- Supervision of associates conducting market research, data analysis, and related tasks
This role will be a hybrid remote. There is an option to work in person if based in New York or DC. In either case, expect to travel up to 10% – 15% within the U.S.
WHO WE ARE: Leadership Now Project is an organization of business and thought leaders committed to protecting and renewing American democracy. Founded in 2017 by a group of Harvard Business School alumni, today the Leadership Now Project has members across more than 30 states, with local chapters in seven, representing a variety of industries and perspectives. Leadership Now collaborates with faculty at 15+ colleges and universities. In 2024, we are focused on: Ensuring business leaders are informed, proactive and ready to respond to democracy threats, particularly related to the 2024 election; Protecting elections and advancing strategic reforms in priority states; and Supporting highly qualified, moderate candidates in critical races.

KEY PROJECTS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Women and Democracy Initiative
A substantial portion (over 50%) of your time will be focused on our Women & Democracy Initiative. The project focuses on using our unique network of business and thought leaders to build women’s political power and influence nationally and at the state level.
- Manage overall project, developing objectives, milestones and timelines to keep project on track
- Work with members of project leadership team convening internal meetings, setting and managing to agendas
- Collaborate with partners– both at state and national level
- Work to build women & democracy initiative’s networks
- Develop programming/playbooks to engage women business leaders in the network to better understand needs and gaps in building power and influence
- Network with women members and non-members to engage them in building political power for women
- Work to build women & democracy initiative thought leadership
- Partner with project leadership team to conduct research and assistance in the preparation of evidence-based presentations and articles/op-eds
- Strategy and execution planning for state-level strategic initiatives
- Outline and manage analysis for state-level need and opportunity maps
- Attend state-level meetings with Leadership Now members
- Create case studies throughout the process of successful efforts
Other strategic projects
- Manage overall projects, developing objectives, milestones and timelines to keep projects on track
- Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities to make strategic investments that advance the goals of Leadership Now
- Other strategic / operational tasks as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- MBA, MPA, other advanced degree or equivalent work experience (3+ years in relevant fields)
- Experience in people management
- Passion for democracy and political system improvement
- Proven high-quality skills in PowerPoint/Google Slides, Excel/Google Sheets
- Excellent research, memo writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Familiarity with project management tools (Airtable, Trello)
