What You’ll Do
The Managing Director of Digital oversees the department responsible for designing strategic and effective digital programs to educate and mobilize the public on a range of progressive issues relating to creating a more fair economy and a stronger democracy. This position is responsible for the development of a 12+ person digital team, including three Directors who respectively oversee paid media, digital content and partnerships, and creative.

This is an executive-level leadership position at an innovative and fast-paced progressive organization. As such, you will work closely with the Executive Director and Executive Committee to guide organization-wide management, development, and growth. Additionally, you will represent The Hub at funder meetings and external events, allocate and prioritize budget priorities, oversee staff and vendors, and help educate the progressive movement on smart digital strategies.

We’re looking for someone who has experience from the technology, media, marketing and/or advertising sectors, has managed large teams, is passionate about progressive issues and digital innovation, and is excited to roll up their sleeves and help shape a growing and evolving organization. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout their career.

As Managing Director, Digital, you will:
●      Manage Hub’s Digital Department of 12+ staffers; including advising on projects, guiding professional development, and recruiting new talent.
●      Oversee an annual budget for digital activity and advertising exceeding $10 million.
●      Develop high-level strategy for innovative, complex digital programs, including large-scale paid media persuasion efforts.
●      Review content and creative for a wide range of digital campaigns, from email drafts to videos to digital ads to websites.
●      Identify, hire, and manage digital vendors and consultants; including paid media, influencers, email marketing, and web development firms.
●      Coordinate with other internal teams and external partners to ensure we’re running integrated, layered, and authentic campaigns.
Work with the rest of the executive team to guide organizational growth, create internal processes and norms, and develop strategy for our programs

About You:
●      You have experience managing large teams and know how to motivate both your direct reports and peers, as well as work across departments to get things done.
●      You have a track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders
●      You have a demonstrated record of empathetic management and know how to connect with and support staff with diverse backgrounds and make sure everyone feels empowered in the workplace to be themselves and do their best work.
●      You’re well-versed in all aspects of running digital campaigns and have experience training others on best practices.
●      You’re passionate about digital innovation and love tracking the latest trends, testing, and thinking outside the box on how to move people to action online. That commitment includes passion for reaching diverse audiences with a range of strategies.
●      You have a keen eye for creative and know what works and what doesn’t (but aren’t afraid of trying new things).
●      You’re highly organized, detail-oriented, data-driven, and work well under pressure.
●      You’ve got a sense of humor and are comfortable taking on evolving responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment.

It would be a bonus if…
●      You’re familiar with digital and creative measurement approaches and tools.
●      You have knowledge in other aspects of grassroots campaigning, such as generating earned media, running mail and TV programs, and using polling to develop messaging and targeting.
●      You have ideas and/or relationships to test innovative distribution strategies to reach target audiences across traditional and emerging platforms.
●      You have experience working with grant-makers and public speaking.
