Seeking an experienced community builder and editor who will implement a coordinated digital fundraising plan that includes expanding our online giving program and donor engagement, and who will maintain and grow Ms.’ thriving social media presence. This position is part of a collaborative team working across the organization’s platforms—print, online, podcast, social media. It’s a casual work environment but we understand deadlines and how to get things done.

Location: Los Angeles, Calif. (currently work-from-home)
Job Type: Full-time (exempt) or freelance
Pay: $55,000+, depending on experience; or $30/hour (freelance)

Duties and Responsibilities
FUNDRAISING
+ Develop and implement digital fundraising programs including email newsletters, email acquisition, online content monetization, and digital fundraising via website, email, mobile, and social media
+ Manage engagement and cultivation of leads acquired through online fundraising and create ways to foster higher giving levels
+ Assist in email marketing to expand recurring gift program (monthly sustainers) and other online donor acquisition efforts
+ Create digital fundraising and membership procedures to ensure digital donors receive structured, appropriate online and digital giving opportunities
+ Evaluate and report on project accomplishments and budgets, analyze data, and make recommendations
+ Improve response rates and increase online donor retention
+ Assist with other online and offline fundraising efforts, including writing and sending promotional emails and creating events pages on the website
NEWSLETTER, SOCIAL MEDIA and PUBLICITY
+ Write, design, and send Today at Ms., Weekly Digest and Politics email newsletters and track analytics
+ Design and manage overall social media strategy; track and report social media analytics
+ Create and post daily content on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and engage with Ms.’ digital community
+ Keep track of trends and conversations on social media throughout the day
+ Write, design, and send press releases and email announcements for each print issue of Ms. and for Ms. Classroom

Qualifications
+ College degree in marketing, journalism, communications, political science/women’s studies or related field
+ 5 years of experience in fundraising, marketing, and/or social media management, at least 2 of those years at a nonprofit
+ Strong knowledge of current fundraising trends, as well as social media, mobile, and digital acquisition trends
+ A work history that shows a progressively challenging work experience and a pattern of success
+ Strong and proven ability to communicate effectively and tactfully online
+ Strong writing skills and proven organizational skills, with good attention to detail
+ Ability to meet deadlines, under pressure, and to work independently and remotely in a fashion that maintains strong and open lines of communication with supervisor and colleagues + Familiarity with social media platforms and experience managing social media effectively, using SproutSocial for analytics tracking
+ Familiarity with Cision and EveryAction or a similar email system (MailChimp, Salsa)
+ Graphic design and video editing experience is a plus
