Position Title: Firefighter-Medic
Reporting Structure: Lieutenant
FLSA Designation: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Compensation: $52,383.24 annually (eligible for a 5% increase after six months upon Paramedic clearance and a 10% increase after one year of employment)
Schedule: 24 hours on/48 hours off

Summary:
The Ocean Reef Community Association (ORCA), located in North Key Largo, FL, is seeking a Firefighter-Medic for the Fire-Rescue Division. The selected candidate will be responsible for responding promptly to emergency situations, performing fire suppression, rescue operations, and providing emergency medical services. The role demands a high level of professionalism to protect lives and property within the Ocean Reef Community and adjoining response areas.
Specific Duties (Including but not limited to):
Perform fire prevention and suppression activities in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Execute vehicle extrication and rescue activities.
Administer patient care in emergency situations based on department protocols.
Assist in maintaining the fire station and firefighting/EMS equipment.
Participate in required training.
Ensure compliance with ORCA policies, procedures, and direction from Public Safety management.
Submit accurate and complete written reports as required.
Occasionally assist full-time security staff with security and patrol duties.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
Ability to respond quickly and courteously in public settings.
Ability to work as part of a 24-hour shift team.
Proficiency in using fire apparatus, patrol vehicles, radios, sirens, emergency lights, and other firefighting and rescue equipment.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, running, climbing, carrying, and using firefighting tools and equipment (e.g., hoses, axes, generators).
Must complete the department’s Ocean Reef Firefighter Readiness Drill and be able to wear and use protective fire equipment.
Must occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:
Minimum Requirements:
Valid Florida Driver License.
Florida Firefighter II Certification.
Florida Paramedic Certification and/or National Registry Paramedic Certification.
Class D Security License or ability to obtain the license within six months of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
Preferred (Not Required):
Associate Degree in Applied Science in Paramedic Medicine or a related field.
At least one year of experience as a certified Paramedic and Firefighter.
Any combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the Firefighter Medic position will be considered.
