Position: Full-Time Police Officer
The City of Eastlake is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer. Applications will remain open until the position is filled. An initial Civil Service list will include applications received by 11:59 PM on November 29, 2024. Subsequent lists will require a minimum of five applicants.
Salary Information
2024 Training Rate: $30.33/hour
Top Rate After Three Years: $42.09/hour
Prior law enforcement experience may qualify for a higher starting step.

Department Overview
The Eastlake Police Department serves a population of over 18,000 residents in Lake County, Ohio. The department offers 12-hour patrol schedules, extensive in-service training, professional development opportunities, and career advancement potential.

Job Requirements
Age: 21–44 years old. Waivers may be granted if service time will meet Ohio Police and Fire Pension System requirements by age 65.
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required; submit birth certificate or naturalization documentation.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Driver’s License: Valid Ohio driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Language: Must be able to read and speak English.
College: Not required.
Academy Certification: Preferred but not required.
Experience: Not required.
Hiring Process
National Testing Network (NTN) Test
Civil Service Certification: Calculation of additional points based on qualifications.
Comprehensive Background Investigation
Voice Stress Analysis (VSA)
Oral Interview
Psychological and Medical Evaluations
Physical Agility Test: Tri-C Agility Test or Basic Police Academy completion within one year of appointment.
Preference Points
Candidates scoring 70% or higher on the NTN exam may qualify for up to 20% in combined preference points:
Military Service (Honorable Discharge Required):
10% for four or more full years of service.
5% for two full years of service.
Education:
10% for a BA/BS in Criminal Justice or related field.
5% for a BA/BS in non-Criminal Justice or an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
2.5% for an Associate’s Degree in a non-Criminal Justice field.
Credit awarded for one degree only.
OPOTA Certification:
5% for certification.
Prior Law Enforcement Experience:
10% for four or more years of continuous full-time service.
5% for one to four years of continuous full-time service.
1% for each year as a Special Officer with Eastlake PD (up to 5%).
Documentation Requirements:
All supporting documents (e.g., diplomas, DD214, OPOTA certification, prior service records) must be submitted through NTN with the application.
Failure to submit required documentation may result in disqualification.
Disqualifications
Candidates may be disqualified for the following reasons:
Criminal history.
Poor work history.
Negative driving record.
Drug use history.
False or misleading statements during the hiring process.
Unresolved deception during the CVSA (Voice Stress Analysis).
