Job Description:

Sarah for Wisconsin is looking for a Deputy Digital Director to join our growing team and help elect Sarah Godlewski to the U.S. Senate. This role will be a key part of our campaign’s efforts to connect with supporters in Wisconsin and across the country.

Ideal candidates will have strong writing skills and are expected to take initiative, help generate new ideas for fundraising and engagement on email and SMS, and create content across the campaign’s social media channels. In this position you will:

  • Partner with Digital Director to develop content and engagement strategy for social media, email, SMS, and web
  • Build and oversee the editorial calendar, pitch new concepts, and move quickly to execute
  • Monitor social media to ID opportunities for the campaign to engage and partner with the Digital Director to respond to breaking news in real-time by developing rapid response for social platforms, as well as email, ads, and SMS
  • Work with digital firm to coordinate day-to-day email production tasks such as building mailings, QAing, targeting audiences, A/B testing, and sending/scheduling; provide additional capacity to write and produce emails as needed
  • Facilitate online ad and email approval between digital firm and the campaign
  • Design and execute optimization tests on our lists; analyze performance and produce reports to inform strategy and make adjustments/recommendations as needed
  • Support Digital Director in managing digital team staff, freelancers, and interns
  • Perform other duties as needed


Top things we’re looking for:

  • 2–3+ year(s) experience in digital (internships and fellowships count) writing social media copy and/or fundraising emails, creating content calendars, and email production for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization, nonprofit, or similar
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail are a must
  • Familiarity with CRMs (NGP is a plus!), ActBlue, and basic HTML
  • Analyze and communicate key metrics for digital programs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, shifting environment and keep up with breaking news; experience with rapid response
  • Willingness to work irregular campaign hours, including nights and weekends, to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with common social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Basic knowledge of social media metrics and willingness to learn how to set and achieve meaningful goals: ie: grow audience, increase engagement, etc.
  • A commitment to building a safe and diverse workplace
  • Support for Democratic politics and enthusiasm for electing Sarah Godlewski to the U.S. Senate!


Always a plus, not a requirement:

  • Experience managing junior staff and/or interns
  • Experience on a political campaign
  • Understanding of A/B testing
  • Familiarity with email deliverability best practices
  • Adobe Suite knowledge
  • Graphic design experience
  • Video and photo editing experience
  • Wisconsin ties are preferred but not required



  • Salary range: $5,500–$6,500 monthly, based on experience
