Role: Campus Campaign Organizer
Location and Timeline: We are hiring organizers for this position beginning January 24th, 2022 and continuing through May 6th, 2022 . Organizers must be based in Arizona (on or near campus at Arizona State University, University of Arizona), Georgia (University of Georgia, Georgia Tech), Nevada (University of Nevada Las Vegas), or Michigan (Michigan State University).
Who We Are: The Outreach Team (TOT) is a political consulting firm specializing in field organizing. We partner with good groups doing great things. Our goal is to consistently raise the overall level of organizing/canvass work across platforms by thinking holistically about our clients, the campaign we are trying to win, and the staff who work on the campaign. We are excited to be working with the Climate Action Campaign on a campaign to engage students and members of the campus community to act on climate including around the historic climate investments in Build Back Better and the urgency of continued actions to reduce emissions.
The Campus Campaign Organizers will engage and generate actions from students and members of the campus community around climate change and the Build Back Better Act. The organizer will plan and execute public education activities around the benefits of the climate provisions of the BBBA including events, earned media and social media. Organizers will engage with Members of Congress (MOC)s to thank them for acting on climate and urging them to keep fighting. This will include lobby visits, direct contacts from calls, emails, social media and petitions, and a large event on campus with the MOC focused on the climate benefits of the BBBA. The organizer will build a base of climate activists to plan, organize and assist in all aspects of the campaign.
What You’ll Do:
Recruit and Train a Community of Volunteer ActivistsCall and text supporters and recruit them into grassroots actions.
Identify new volunteers by gathering petitions
Run grassroots skills trainings to develop effective campaigners among volunteers
Keep meticulous track of a volunteer list so that no potential fighter falls through the cracks
Represent the campaign through participation in community spaces and events, while engaging and uplifting coalition and partner organizations.
Generate Direct Touches to Member of Congress (MOC) OfficesGather thousands of petition signatures on campus
Organize phonebanking events to generate hundreds of calls into MOC offices
Recruit and train volunteers to generate more petition signatures, calls and emails
Recruit and engage with faculty and professors on campus to contact and engage the MOC office
Organize Climate Focused Events on CampusNail 100% of all messaging and legal requirements and ensure that volunteers do the same
Organize and execute in-person or virtual events demonstrating support for climate action and the Build Back Better Act, including educational events, trainings, rallies, and more. Averaging at least 1 event per month.
Educate students, faculty and others on campus about the historic climate investments in the Build Back Better Act (including local benefits) and the urgency of continued actions to reduce emissions.
Manage Digital Campaign, Data Management, and Reporting ToolsDemonstrate public support by recruiting volunteers to post on their own social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Use peer-to-peer texting services and relational organizing tools to communicate with community members
Send timely and compelling email campaigns to recruit activists to campaign activities
Track every interaction with detailed notes in order to report numbers daily and write weekly reports on the results of the campaign

Nice-to-Haves, but Not Required:
Experience working for nonprofits, electoral campaigns, and/or other issue campaigns
Data Management and Evaluation Experience: Experience working with various data management systems and tools, mainly Google Suite.
Experience with Relevant Campaign Tools and Technologies: Action Network, ThruText, MailChimp, eCRMs like EveryAction, or social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
Event or Project Planning & Management, Implementation or Evaluation
Knowledge or previous experience working on this issue is a plus, but not required

Salary, Benefits and Perks:
The salary for this position is $47,000-$54,000. Salary within this range is determined through an equity calculator. As part of TOT’s commitment to compensation equity and transparency, we have a no negotiation policy. Salary negotiations can introduce bias and perpetuate wage inequality. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement. We offer a generous benefits package, including:
