Role: Pennsylvania Rapid Response Organizer, Planned Parenthood
Location and Timeline: We are hiring an organizer for this position beginning January 24th and continuing through June 30th, with the possibility of extension. Organizers can be based anywhere in the state of Pennsylvania, with preference for Allegheny, Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties.
Who We Are: The Outreach Team (TOT) is a political consulting firm specializing in field organizing. We partner with good groups doing great things. Our goal is to consistently raise the overall level of organizing/canvass work across platforms by thinking holistically about our clients, the campaign we are trying to win, and the staff who work on the campaign. We are excited to be working with Planned Parenthood on a campaign to help fight back and protect access to reproductive care in Pennsylvania with the understanding that over the next 12 months, numerous attacks will likely be made on access to healthcare at the federal level and in state legislatures across the country.
The Pennsylvania Rapid Response Organizer will work in close coordination with Planned Parenthood’s national campaigns team and PA state team to help seize key moments, organize supporters, win state legislative fights, and build power for Planned Parenthood and the reproductive freedom movement. The organizer will work with Planned Parenthoods existing infrastructure to develop and execute campaign plans in Pennsylvania. The organizer will engage with the PA state legislature around reproductive rights legislation and abortion access including rapid response events and building meaningful relationships and contacts around the state legislature. Moving into the spring, the organizer will work with in-state and national partners to plan and execute a large-scale event in Pennsylvania around reproductive access around the time of the Supreme Court ruling announcement on Roe v. Wade.
What You’ll Do:
Build Coalition and Develop Grasstop RelationshipsEngage with organizing partners in-state to elevate reproductive rights issues
Develop contacts and relationships with state legislators and their staff and engage with them on reproductive rights issues as well as raising awareness around attacks happening statewide including but not limited to a PA constitutional amendment
Recruit and Train a Community of Volunteer ActivistsCall and text supporters and recruit them into grassroots actions.
Run grassroots skills trainings to develop effective campaigners among volunteers
Keep meticulous track of a volunteer list so that no potential volunteer falls through the cracks
Represent the campaign through participation in community spaces and events, while engaging and uplifting coalition and partner organizations.
Organize Events around reproductive justice and accessNail 100% of all messaging and legal requirements and ensure that volunteers do the same
Organize and execute in-person or virtual events including educational events, trainings, rallies, and more with at least one large-scale rally around reproductive access.
Manage Digital Campaign, Data Management, and Reporting ToolsDemonstrate public support by recruiting volunteers to post on their own social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
Use peer-to-peer texting services and relational organizing tools to communicate with community members
Send timely and compelling email campaigns to recruit activists to campaign activities
Track every interaction with detailed notes in order to report numbers daily and write weekly reports on the results of the campaign

Nice-to-Haves, but Not Required:
Experience working for nonprofits, electoral campaigns, and/or other issue campaigns
Data Management and Evaluation Experience: Experience working with various data management systems and tools, mainly Google Suite.
Experience with Relevant Campaign Tools and Technologies: Action Network, ThruText, MailChimp, eCRMs like EveryAction, or social media tools (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
Event or Project Planning & Management, Implementation or Evaluation
Knowledge or previous experience working on this issue is a plus, but not required
If you were here right now, you would be:
Engaging and expanding awareness of reproductive rights access and threats within the state and specifically within the state legislature through public visibility actions, voter outreach, and relationship building
Planning and coordinating with coalition partners around the legislative session and preventing the constitutional amendment passage
Recruiting, training and developing volunteers to prepare for rapid response including preparing volunteers to make calls, plan events, write letters etc.
Salary, Benefits and Perks:
The salary for this position is $47,000-$54,000. Salary within this range is determined through an equity calculator. As part of TOT’s commitment to compensation equity and transparency, we have a no negotiation policy. Salary negotiations can introduce bias and perpetuate wage inequality. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement. We offer a generous benefits package, including:
