Job Summary:

The Director of Partnerships & Policy will help significantly grow Vot-ER’s network of partners, build and execute upon the organization’s policy and advocacy agenda, and play a leadership role in the organization’s Civic Health Holidays work throughout the calendar year.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide direct supervisory responsibility for one to two full-time staff members as well as one to two interns (who may be full or part-time)
Manage hiring processes for new relevant new staff and oversee direct report training


In collaboration with the Vice President of Programs, build out the annual and longer-term policy and advocacy agendas for the organization. This includes:
Sitting at relevant coalition tables
Facilitating appropriate internal and external discussions
Building out power maps to achieve desired policy outcomes
Responding to defensive needs as they emerge
Ensuring other Vot-ER teams are supported and integrated into said policy and advocacy plans.
Manage relationships with a portfolio of Vot-ER partners, helping them drive to action around voter engagement in their institutions.
Develop and lead campaigns that cross disciplinary areas, integrating communications, policy, organizing, and partnering with both staff and volunteers.
Oversee the annual Civic Health Month conference, which occurs every August and serves as the culminating event for Vot-ER’s largest campaign, Civic Health Month.
Thoughtfully infuse other programs into the conference planning, execution, and follow-up, including our communications team, organizing team, and broader partnerships work.
Collaborate across the organization on Civic Health Holidays, ensuring these holidays galvanize Vot-ER’s partners to take action and make an impact.
Collaborate with on-the-ground organizers to develop and manage the policy and advocacy work in at least 2 of Vot-ER’s priority states.
Manage all efforts through a fiercely non-partisan lens.

Outstanding interpersonal skills and a track record of partnering with people across hierarchies to drive organizational efforts, including through meetings, email, and internal communication systems
Learning orientation and excitement to grow within the organization and learn both from success stories and organizational growth edges
Experience developing and growing junior team members, including interns
Excellent ability to respond rapidly to external or internal events and milestones and turn it into energy and action to support the organization
Experience learning new technical tools and a joy for learning those new tools

Spanish language proficiency preferred.


Education and Experience:

Undergraduate degree required
5+ years of demonstrated experience in health advocacy, policy or pro-democracy spaces
A robust knowledge of health care systems
A robust toolkit and track record for driving change in big, bureaucratic systems (organizing, advocacy, or internal transformation in a large organization/institution)
2+ experience supervising and managing full-time staff
Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working at a computer.
Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.


Other Requirements:

Ability to travel a minimum of twice per year.


This is a remote, full-time role. Vot-ER offers a flexible, remote work environment. We have core working hours of 12 pm to 5 pm eastern time, Monday through Friday. During those hours, all employees are expected to be available for meetings and collaboration. Outside of those core hours, each employee sets their own schedule, while recognizing that due to the collaborative nature of the Vot-ER work and mission, employees will often arrange meetings outside of core Vot-ER hours.
