Website Aurora Commons
Aurora Commons cultivates belonging and community to foster
health and healing among our neighbors experiencing poverty and
homelessness. Many of our neighbors who are experiencing extreme poverty, homelessness, commercial sexual exploitation,
domestic violence, sexual assault, and un- or under-treated substance use, mental health, and behavioral health
disorders come to Aurora Commons. At the Commons, we talk about people we work with and for as our “neighbors” the way other organizations might talk about participants or clients. Our core values of hospitality, connection, and empowerment guide how we deliver services. This includes creating a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment through both relational interactions and intentional spatial design, where
neighbors feel safe, comfortable, and able to engage on their own terms. Relationships at Aurora Commons are built through consistent presence and voluntary interactions in a shared space. This reflects a core belief that healing happens in community and that connection is essential to wellbeing and safety. We recognize that change happens
incrementally, recovery and stability are not linear, and that individuals need a trusted place to return as their needs
change.
We are seeking an Executive Director who shares our belief in the transformative power of radical hospitality and brings business acumen and serious fundraising expertise for next-level endeavors. Our next executive will be an empathetic relationship builder, a
thoughtful leader, and a courageous advocate adept at bringing lightness while holding heavy work. This position is a powerful opportunity for the right candidate to capitalize on our 15 year history of impact and work with our dedicated board of directors and deeply experienced staff members to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors and our neighborhood.
