Job Description:

SUMMARY

This is administrative work preparing the Affirmative Action Plan, monitoring compliance with the State and Federal regulations.

The single position allocated to this classification reports to and works under general supervision of the Equal Opportunity Manager. Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its knowledge of Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Minority Business Enterprise, and Diversity (EEO/AA/MBE/D) regulations and guidelines and level of responsibility in assisting the Equal Opportunity Director in the administration of all City related programs and initiatives and providing policy guidance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepares, implements, and monitors the Affirmative Action Plans on an annual basis for both General Government and Gainesville Regional Utilities.

Reviews and approves all new and revised job descriptions from an Equal Opportunity perspective.

Works closely with Human Resources, management, and staff to develop targeted recruitment strategies.

Reviews all recruitment plans submitted by hiring managers prior to advertisement as it relates to positions with affirmative action goals and positions at the supervisory and managerial levels.

Serves as the resource person for all issues related to affirmative action and coordinates the diversity/Affirmative Action work plan training for supervisors and managers.

Attends work on continuous and regular basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or business administration, human resources management, pre-law, or related subject and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Minority Business Enterprise and Diversity fields; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses

Valid Florida Driver license required within thirty (30) days of appointment and at all times while employed in this classification.
