The City of Grants Pass is currently accepting applications for the Firefighter position. All candidates must complete the FireTEAM exam through the National Testing Network (NTN). The department also requires candidates to complete the Public Safety Self Assessment (PSSA), accessible through the candidate’s NTN account.

Salary Information:

Base Salary: $66,967 to $85,469 annually
Incentive Pay:Advanced EMT: 3% of base rate
Intermediate EMT: 4% of base rate
Paramedic: 6% of base rate
Education:$75 per month for an Associate Degree
$150 per month for a Bachelor’s Degree
(Incentives are not cumulative)

Department Overview:
The Fire Rescue Department provides an exciting and dynamic environment for firefighters. Firefighters respond to and mitigate various incidents, both emergency and non-emergency, and perform basic or advanced medical care based on EMT certification level. They maintain documentation for incidents and treatments, follow department guidelines, make appropriate decisions, and communicate effectively in stressful situations.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must reside within 45 minutes of the Hillcrest, Parkway, or Redwood Fire Station as per department policy.

Job Requirements:

Age: 18 or older
Citizenship: Must demonstrate the ability to work lawfully in the U.S.
Education: High school diploma or GED
Driver’s License: Must have or obtain an Oregon license
Language: Must read and speak English
Vision: Must be sufficient to safely operate apparatus
Preferred Qualifications:

DPSST Wildland FFT2 Certificate
NFPA Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator certificate
IS-700.a and IS-100 certifications
Oregon Company Inspector certificate
Experience:
One year of experience in emergency services or a related field is required. Formal education and specialized training are preferred.

Required Certifications:

Valid State of Oregon EMT license
NFPA Firefighter 1 certificate
Valid driver’s license, with the ability to obtain an Oregon Class C license within 30 days of appointment
