$71,082–$105,744 annually
Includes a 4.5% holiday check in November (pensionable)

Department Overview:
The East Dundee Police Department includes 17 full-time sworn officers, 3 part-time sworn officers, and 2 non-sworn staff members. The department is accredited through the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (ILEAP) and focuses on community-oriented policing.

East Dundee is located in Dundee Township on the eastern border of Kane County, near Cook County. It is 29 miles from O’Hare Airport, with convenient access to I-90, and is evenly situated 50 miles from downtown Chicago and Rockford.

Job Requirements:
Age: Minimum of 21 years old and under 41 years old at the time of application (or as allowed by law).
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Driver’s License: Required.
Vision: Correctable to 20/20.
Academy Certification: Not required.
Prior Experience: Not required.
Hiring Process:
Written exam through NTN (minimum passing score: 70)
Background investigation
Panel interview with Police Command staff
Polygraph examination
Oral examination by the Board of Police Commissioners
Psychological assessment and medical/drug screening (post-offer)
Preference Points:
Preference points are awarded as follows for eligible candidates:
Bachelor’s degree: 1 point
Master’s degree: 1 point
Certified police officers in any state: 1 point
Part-time police officers in East Dundee in good standing: 1 point
Honorably discharged military personnel or those on reserve duty with at least 1 year of service: 5 points
Disqualifications:
The Commission may disqualify candidates for the following reasons:
Failure to meet preliminary requirements.
Inability to perform the physical duties of the position.
Addiction to drugs or intoxicating substances.
Felony conviction or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.
Dismissal from public service for cause.
Deception or fraud during the application process.
Unsatisfactory character or employment references.
Lack of a high school education or equivalent.
Classification as a conscientious objector by a draft board.
Notification of Disqualification:
Candidates deemed disqualified will be notified in writing by the Commission. Specific reasons for disqualification will remain confidential and not be disclosed. Waivers signed by candidates acknowledge this confidentiality policy.
