Ambulance Dispatcher

Full Time, Part Time & Casual Positions Available

The Medical Transportation Coordination Centre (MTCC) is a state-of-the-art Communication Centre located in Brandon, Manitoba, specializing in prehospital ground and air transportation and communication. The MTCC offers a competitive salary scale and benefits package.

As the front line staff, the System Status Controllers (calltaker/dispatcher) will receive emergency calls from the public and dispatch the most appropriate EMS resources using computer-aided-dispatching systems (CAD) that incorporate medical priority dispatch software and mapping/GPS technology. Digital radio and telephony equipment is used to communicate with ambulances and other public safety agencies.

MTCC will train individuals possessing the necessary attributes and qualifications to perform the necessary job functions. Minimum qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Keyboarding speed greater than 35 wpm.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work shifts.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Valid standard CPR certification.
  • Must be competent with Windows-based programs.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Manitoba EMS-Technician (EMR) License. It may be obtained following the start date.

Assets include:

  • Past experience working in a call center.
  • Emergency Medical Services experience.
  • Training in paramedicine or other relevant medical training.
  • All successful applicants will need to possess a satisfactory police Criminal
  • Records check and a clear Child and Adult Abuse Registry check at the time of hire.
  • Ongoing employment will be contingent on successful completion of the
  • MTCC training program.
  • MTCC will consider educational assistance for successful candidates who do not possess, at minimum, a Manitoba EMS-Technician (EMR) License.
