Program Overview
Our ground-breaking 2024 Paid Relational Organizing Hub program will touch up to 8 million people and generate as many as 15 million conversations across 10 states: AZ, GA, NV, MI, MT, MN, NV, NC, OH and PA.

These statewide programs will:

  • Initiate relational conversations with hundreds of thousands of people.
  • Build a rapid-response network of trusted messengers to fight back against disinformation
  • Aim to generate thousands of new voters in each state for the upcoming election.

 

Job Description

The State Organizing Directors will lead a team of Regional Organizing Directors (RODs) and  Community Organizers (COs) for statewide paid relational organizing programs in AZ, GA, NV, MI, MT, MN, NV, NC, OH, or PA.

The State Organizing Directors will hire, onboard, train, lead and monitor metrics for, and coach up to Regional Organizing Directors (RODs.) Additionally, the State Organizing Directors will onboard, train, monitor metrics for a team of Community Organizers (COs,) as well as conduct related administrative tasks. Critically, they will also facilitate large-scale trainings alongside their organizing team, ensuring the smooth flow of operations and maximum impact of each event. The COs in each region will be responsible for building a universe of paid Community Mobilizers (CMs) to conduct calls to action before the election in November.

The State Organizing Directors will be responsible for the combined output of each of their direct reports during each of these cycles of outreach. The State Organizing Directors will also be expected to create a positive and safe work environment, and to address the daily tasks of the campaign with flexibility and creativity.

The State Organizing Directors will be leading members of the strategic team and be encouraged to offer input into program design. This position is an opportunity to play a senior role in a groundbreaking program that will scale in 2024.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervise and delegate responsibilities to members of the organizing team.
  • The State Organizing Directors will work with Empower Project to evaluate and hire ROD and CO applicants
  • The State Organizing Directors will manage and lead a team of RODs and CO’s, fostering a supportive team culture of excellence and accountability
    Ensure all data is entered in a timely fashion, meeting campaign-wide standards
  • The State Organizing Directors will direct organizing staff during large-scale trainings, managing key elements of technology, presentation and team coordination
  • Following the onboarding of each wave of RODs and COs, maintain a regular 1:1 meeting schedule with direct reports as well as plan and lead weekly organizing team meetings
  • Ensure that all program requirements are well-communicated by reviewing and contributing to published materials
  • Monitor the results of various accountability and organizing approaches and and share best practices with their colleagues and Empower Project leadership
  • Collect critical feedback on training materials from RODs. COs and CMs and deliver to Empower Project leadership in order to improve support materials
  • Support Empower Project leadership in monitoring and identifying trends in the CM recruitment pipeline
  • Other tasks as assigned by Empower Project leadership

Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have existing relationships in one of the ten states or are fluent in a second language, including Spanish.

Compensation
This is a full-time, remote, salaried position available immediately and lasting through November 15, 2024.

The work schedule is six days per week with Fridays off. Organizing Directors will work either Sunday – Thursdays 10:15am – 8:45pm Eastern or 10:15am – 8:45pm Mountain time, depending on their state assignment. Saturdays are a shortened schedule, ending at either 5:45pm Eastern or 5:45pm Mountain time, depending on state assignment.

We will also work the full week before the November election.

The salary for this position is $8,500/month plus healthcare benefits and 2 paid sick days.
