Job Title: Police Officer

The City of Bay Village is holding a competitive examination for the position of Entry-Level Police Officer.

Application Requirements:
Completion of the competitive examination by the specified deadline.
Submission of the City of Bay Village Civil Service application by the same deadline.
Note: Incomplete applications or missing exam completion will result in disqualification.

Additional Score Credits:
Points will be added to a passing score (maximum of 10 points):

5 Points: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Police Science, or any field from an accredited college or university.
5 Points: Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification with at least two years’ (or 4,160 hours) experience in law enforcement.
2 Points: Current OPOTA certification without experience.
5 Points: Honorably discharged veteran with at least one continuous year of active military service.
Documentation for credits must be submitted with the application.

Salary Information:
2025 Rates of Pay:

Probationary: $65,156 annually ($31.32/hour)
After 1 Year: $70,975 annually ($34.12/hour)
After 2 Years: $80,038 annually ($38.48/hour)
After 3 Years: $90,724 annually ($43.62/hour)

Job Requirements:
Age: 21–40 at the time of appointment
Education: High school diploma or GED required; college preferred
Driver’s License: Valid
Vision: Normal (corrected or uncorrected)
Certification: Must possess or obtain OPOTA certification
Other Certifications: LEADS certification, firearm proficiency, and any other state-required licenses
Physical Requirements:
Applicants must complete various physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, reaching, climbing, bending, and running.
