Starting salary for candidate who meets minimum requirements (Experience will be compensated): $110,000+

A Day in the Life

Under the general supervision of PPNCS’ General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer, the Associate General Counsel provides legal and compliance risk management and counsel to PPNCS and its ancillary organizations.  The position ensures that management, employees, and contractors are in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and contractual requirements, that company policies and procedures are up to date and being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the organization’s Code of Conduct. Performs other related duties as assigned. The Associate General Counsel is an advocate in implementing our mission of “Affirming the human right to reproductive and sexual health and freedom for all by providing excellent care, trusted education, and fierce advocacy.”

Responsibilities

This position will impact us with the following contributions:

Develops, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Quality Assurance, Clinical Operations, Finance, Purchasing, Human Resources, etc.) to provide counsel and/or direct compliance issues to appropriate channels for resolution. Consults with General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer and outside counsel as needed to resolve difficult legal compliance issues. Provides statutory interpretation on matters involving business and clinical operations.
Conducts legal reviews of and drafts grants, memorandums of understanding, labor and employment agreements and contracts.
Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations.
Identifies potential areas of legal risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
Ensures proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
Monitors the performance of the Legal/Compliance Program, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
Assists and tracks litigation matters within the affiliate, including labor and employment related matters.
Manages legal issues in the absence of the General Counsel, including Board related activities.
Provide direct supervision to one or more members of the Legal and Compliance team.
The Ideal Candidate Brings:

Law degree from an accredited law school, current unrestricted Minnesota or Iowa attorney license (or eligible to acquire within 6 months from hire), and a minimum of five years’ experience working in-house, in non-profit law role.
Ability to provide timely and responsive legal support to business partners within the affiliate.
Experience working with Executive Level leaders and external partners in state and federal government and oversight organizations.
Schedule:

This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week during normal business hours. The position is a hybrid work model, based our of our St Paul Admin Office.
