Banyan Global is recruiting a gender and social inclusion (GESI) team member to support GESI integration on a new project entitled, Investments in Developing Energy Assets (IDEA) Activity. This USAID-funded activity’s goal is to improve regional energy supply, security, reliability and efficiency through supporting investments in all segments of the energy sector, including heat and power generation facilities, transmission and distribution networks, renewable sources, demand side improvements, and water supply and sanitation infrastructures. The geographical location/coverage of this activity includes the following countries: 1) Albania, 2) Armenia, 3) Azerbaijan, 4 )Bosnia and Herzegovina, 5) Georgia, 6) Greenland, 7) Kosovo, 8) Moldova, 9) Montenegro, 10) North Macedonia, and 11) Serbia.
This DC-based position will lead the gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) integration strategy for IDEA, ensuring the activity will effectively advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls to participate fully in and benefit from the activity; reduce gender-based violence and mitigate harmful effects; and ensure the political, economic, and social rights of LGBTIQ, people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, and other vulnerable persons are included in the development of energy sector investments. This position will ensure that a GESI lens is integrated into investment selection criteria and scoping activities; pre-feasibility assessments and feasibility assessments for small, medium and large investments; and investor conferences. This position will also support other gender and youth projects and new business activities, as assigned.
Responsibilities
· Provide technical and managerial leadership on GESI for IDEA.
· Ensure the quality and timeliness of all deliverables and work products for IDEA.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for GESI within the activity and with other relevant stakeholders.
· Proactively identify resources required for IDEA GESI implementation, including consultants and subcontractors, develop scopes of work for the same.
· Directly supervise consultants and provide technical oversight over their work.
· Ensure adherence to all relevant USG and Banyan Global rules, regulations, and laws, including those related to procurement, labor and employment.
· Provide project management support for other gender and youth projects, as assigned.
· Provide technical support in areas such as conducting gender analysis, assessments and surveys, designing and developing and leading gender and social inclusion (GESI) trainings, and managing and implementing GESI research.
· Lead new business activities related to gender and youth.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
· A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience, including experience evaluating and implementing investments and assessments in the energy sector from a GESI lens.
· Experience with integrating “Do no harm” as a key consideration for investment decisions and feasibility assessments.
· Experience providing gender related technical assistance on environment, energy and infrastructure programs.
· Experience integrating GESI into proposals, project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
· Experience managing diverse teams, budgets, and multiple, simultaneous activities.
· Experience managing remotely.
· Proven track record of establishing and maintaining productive relationships.
· Demonstrated familiarity with USAID’s Program Cycle, gender policies and guidelines.
· Bachelor or master’s degree in a relevant field.
· English language fluency is mandatory.
