Job Description:

SUMMARY

This is technical work in photography, processing, duplicating, and enlarging film and processing digital and video images, printing digital and video images, and maintaining a photographic/digital/video laboratory.

Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under limited supervision.  Work in this class is distinguished from other classes by its emphasis on skilled photographic, digital, and video duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operates varied still and motion picture camera equipment.

Monitors photographic and video lab equipment to ensure proper functionally and assists with installation of necessary software and hardware for processing video evidence.

Maintains security of imaging evidence. Orders and stores supplies and equipment, according to inventory specifications.

Responds to crime scenes and collects video surveillance.

Records all inquiries and requests for video evidence, as well as all changes made to original footage for the purpose of maintaining integrity of evidence.

Prepares video evidence for playback by enhancing imagery, editing for time/subject, creating side-by-sides, and/or using different methods to achieve optimal results.

Utilizes current technologies to determine the best use of photographic, digital, and video equipment.

Recommends purchase of additional equipment and maintains Department-wide imaging equipment inventory.

Maintains security of imaging evidence.

Develops, processes, adjusts, and edits images to aid in the identification of persons or objects in photographs.

Testifies in court concerning processing procedures and security of imaging evidence.

Trains Police personnel on photographic procedures and techniques.

Photographs Public Relations events.

Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and two (2) years of experience in photography and photographic processing, digital photography and computerize digital processing, and video processing.

Investigative or forensic investigative experience and/or police background preferred.

Licenses

Valid Florida Driver license required at time of hire.
