Position: Research Intern
Location: Remote – United States
Status: Part Time – 20 hours/week – $25/hour
Term: Fixed (Mon, Aug 26, 2024 – Friday, October 18, 2024)
Reports to: Executive Director

Position Summary
Equity Forward is looking for a fall semester intern to conduct research on reproductive health issues. This position is remote and can be performed from any location in the United States but requires some adherence to East Coast work hours. The hourly rate for this position is $25/hour for a maximum of 20 hours per week. Please note that this internship does not include benefits.

This isn’t your typical researcher role; as an Equity Forward intern, you’ll participate in meaningful work, advocating for reproductive rights, gaining experience in advocacy and research, and acquiring tools and knowledge to take with you in your future career. The ideal candidate will have experience in political research and a commitment to protecting reproductive rights. You will support Equity Forward’s research team in conducting public records research and producing reports. The position requires the ability to communicate complex information in a digestible manner, juggle multiple priorities, and an attention to detail. Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
● Experience conducting public records research, including drafting, sending, and tracking FOIA/RTK/Sunshine requests and productions.
● Reviewing public records we receive and compiling public records reports.
● Conducting news, internet, and database searches to inform and update reports.
● Tracking legislative and agency developments related to sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice.
● Collaborating with the research team to produce research reports, fact sheets, and blogs on reproductive health issues.
● Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
● Currently or recently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in government, political science, public policy, public health, law, or a related field.
● Some professional experience in political research or related fields, such as academic research, political advocacy, campaign, policy analysis or public policy research, and/or experience on Capitol Hill or in state government.
● Able to engage audiences using a range of communication tools.

● Ability to analyze the current political landscape and understand the connection to SRHRJ and other social justice issues.
● Ability to work independently and juggle competing priorities and strict deadlines.
● Proven track record for being a self-starter.
● Attention to detail.
● Commitment to reproductive health issues.

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
● Experience conducting public records research.
● Experience analyzing financial reports and disclosures.
● Knowledge of state and federal government systems.
