The Maitland Fire Rescue Department will be accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/EMT. All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network.

STARTING SALARY: $45,890 – $54,741 annually.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:
Two Fire Stations
- 1 Engine; 1 Tower/Truck Company
- 2 Rescues; 1 Battalion; 1 Marine Rescue
- Over 6 sq. mile serving nearly 20,000 residents
- High-rise; Mid-rise; Multi-family; Single-family
- Annual call load of 4000+
- 24/48 shift schedule
- Downtown Festivals; Events; Concerts
OPERATIONS:
- Special Operations (VMR, Rope Rescue; Truck)
- Rescue Swimmer
- All apparatus staffed ALS
EQUIPMENT:
- New and Advanced Fire, Extrication, and EMS Equipment Constantly Upgraded
- Smooth Bore Nozzles
- Two Sets of Structural Gear per Firefighter

Incentive Pay:
- Paramedic Preceptor Pay $2.00/hour
- Certification Pay (Rescue Swimmer, Rope Tech, Tower Certified, Life Fire Instructor, FO1, Instructor 1)
- Ride-Up Pay
- Driver $1.50/hour
- Officer-In-Charge $1.75/hour
- Battalion Chief $2.25/hour
Paid Holidays:
- 280 hours of Personal Leave accrued per year
- 112 hours of Sick Leave accrued per year
PENSION:
- 175 Private Pension Plan governed by the State of Florida (NOT the Florida Retirement System (FRS))
- 20 years and out at any age or 10 years at age 55
- 5-year DROP
- 3% multiplier
Job Requirements:
- High School Grad/GED: Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent as recognized by the State of Florida Department of Education.
- Valid FLORIDA Driver’s License: Possess & maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License
- Candidates must have an acceptable driving record and past criminal history. Must meet all pre-employment requirements in accordance with state and department standards.
- Ability to Read/Speak English: Communicate effectively in English
Academy Certification:
- Must hold current certification and licensing as an EMT in accordance with the State of Florida, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, Florida Administrative Code 64J-1.008
- Must possess and maintain a certificate from the Florida State Minimum Standards Certification as a Firefighter in accordance to F.S. 633.412.
- Employees in this position are required to pass the National Incident Management System (NIMS) IS-700 within 30 days of employment.
- ICS-100 and ICS-200 within 90 days of employment, or from the date of taking the position.
- There may be additional NIMS required, which will be scheduled by your supervisor.
- All certifications substantiating the minimum qualifications must be submitted along with the employment application.
- Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Must possess, or obtain shortly after being hired, a certificate of successful completion in an Emergency Vehicle Operator’s Course (EVOC) or equivalent
