Promote Yourself

Promoting Yourself is a full-time job, regardless if you are currently employed or still looking.   The competition is fierce.

During the pandemic  a higher proportion of women than men lost their jobs in the first and second waves of the pandemic. Women accounted for 63% of the 1 million jobs lost as of March 2020, and 70% of losses by workers aged 25 to 54.(Reported Oct 21, 2022).

US Chamber of Commerce, DATA DEEP DIVE of 4/27/2022: reported that in April 2020 as the pandemic took hold, women’s unemployment surpassed men’s by 4.1% and has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. Women’s labor force participation is continuing to decline, while women’s unemployment rate has remained steady since December 2021. And, Women were more vulnerable to layoffs during the pandemic.

The majority of pandemic-related job losses have been experienced by women, according to a 2021 report from the National Women’s Law Center. Since February 2020, the report notes, women in the United States have lost more than 5.4 million net jobs.

The reports accumulate, however, not much has changed for women. Bouncing back is not an easy task when you consider that gender bias, violence against women, and sexual harassment are still problematic in 2022. These impediments are not exactly conducive to acquiring self-assurance.
