BRIEF DESCRIPTION

IREX is seeking a consultant to support a leadership training program for Syrian female journalists. The consultant will work on curriculum design/adaptation starting in August, 2022; The training will take place via a virtual platform in October 2022.

POSITION SUMMARY

IREX is seeking a consultant to support a leadership training program for Syrian female journalists. The consultant will work on curriculum design/adaptation starting in August, 2022. The consultant will  facilitate the training on a virtual platform in October 2022.

Trainers will work virtually, however the trainer may potentially be asked to travel to Turkey if circumstances allow. Under no circumstances will trainers be required or expected to travel within Syria.

IREX is seeking trainers with documented experience in the following subject matter/skill areas:

Facilitation / training experience
Curriculum development
Leadership and empowerment approaches
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

IREX will assign selected trainers to work with SIMS staff and participants of the leadership program. Successful candidates will be able to establish and maintain collegial, supportive, and productive relationships with SIMS staff and participants, as well as other IREX/SIMS-II consultants and trainers.

Selected candidates will:
Develop leadership training plans and schedules
Deliver virtual training at online, radio, or television outlets (circumstances may occasionally require that training be delivered in-person);
Provide IREX and beneficiary media outlets with recommendations for follow-up training based on results of training interventions;
Produce comprehensive, written, English-language reports, detailing activities undertaken within each training assignment,   recommendations for future training, and other information as requested by IREX; and,
Perform other responsibilities as requested.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Experience designing and delivering leadership focused training for adults in a variety of settings
Experience with adult learning methods and experiential learning
Ability to deliver engaging and interactive trainings in a virtual environment
Experience adapting curriculum and methods for differing contexts, geographies, and sectors
Experience with the media sector preferred
Experience working with the Syrian context preferred
Ability to train in Arabic language preferred
Availability August – October 2022 for curriculum development and training delivery
