Senior Web Designer & Developer

Hourly Rate: $120/hr

Overview
MoveOn is seeking an experienced website professional to provide end-to-end operational and execution support across the organization’s digital member experience ecosystem, including election-related initiatives, website redesign efforts, campaign launches, and ongoing stakeholder requests.
This role combines project leadership, stakeholder management, production oversight, and hands-on web execution. The contractor will serve as a partner across design, development, and delivery workflows while helping coordinate the design work of external contributors and maintaining efficient systems for intake and execution.

Scope of Work
This anticipated workload averages 20 hours per week. Hours outlined in any scope of work are estimates only, and MoveOn does not guarantee a specific number of hours to contractors.

Steward intake, prioritization, and scheduling of website requests across multiple stakeholders, translating requests into clear scopes.
Align workstreams with organizational priorities, deadlines, and strategic goals while anticipating risks, and blockers.
Coordinate with design contractors or external contributors.
Facilitate production execution, including revision cycles, feedback incorporation, design updates, and front-end implementation of multi-page web experiences.
Partner with the Product team on website experimentation initiatives, including participant scheduling, research coordination, and translating user insights and engagement data into actionable improvements.
Partner with the Digital Member Experience department to balance long-term redesign priorities with immediate rapid-response and election program needs, advising on practical trade-offs across scope, timelines, and resources.
Provide guidance on scope and escalate questions, risks, or tradeoffs related to timelines and capacity to the Lead Product Designer as needed.
Ensure deliverables meet standards for accessibility, responsiveness, brand consistency, and visual quality.
Coordinate launches, QA, post-launch fixes, and ongoing refinements.

Required Qualifications
5-7+ years of experience in web production, digital project management, web design/development, or related roles supporting complex website initiatives.
Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders, shifting priorities, timelines, and cross-functional workflows in fast-paced environments.
Strong judgment in scoping work, identifying risks, and recommending practical trade-offs across timelines, resources, and technical constraints.
Strong proficiency with WordPress, Elementor, and CMS workflows.
Proficiency in front-end web technologies including HTML and CSS.
Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, usability, and website QA best practices.
Proficiency with Asana, Slack, and collaborative workflow tools.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and maintain a high level of ownership and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience coordinating contractors, freelancers, or external contributors.
Working knowledge of JavaScript.
Advanced proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, and rapid prototyping tools.
Experience managing custom post types, plugin ecosystems, or advanced WordPress administration.
Experience supporting political, advocacy, nonprofit, campaign, or mission-driven organizations.
Experience balancing long-term redesign initiatives with high-volume day-to-day production requests.
Familiarity with analytics, A/B testing, research coordination, or experimentation workflows.

Most-favorable terms
MoveOn reserves the right to make an award without further discussion of the proposal submitted. Therefore, the proposal should be submitted initially on the most favorable terms that the vendor could propose. There will be no best-and-final-offer procedure. MoveOn does reserve the right to contact a vendor for clarification of its proposal.

The vendor should be prepared to accept this request for proposal for incorporation into a contract resulting from this request for proposal. Contract negotiations may incorporate some or the vendor’s entire proposal. It is understood that the proposal will become a part of the official procurement file on this matter without obligation to MoveOn.

No obligation to contract
This request for proposal does not obligate MoveOn to contract for services specified herein.

Rejection of proposals
MoveOn reserves the right at its sole discretion to reject any and all proposals received without penalty and not to issue a contract as a result of this request for proposal.
