Hiring Requirements & Process:
This competitive testing process evaluates candidates based on their written examination, oral interview, and qualifications.

Applications Due:
Completed applications must be received by 3:00 p.m. on October 18, 2024. Applications can be submitted in person at ECFPD Station #1, 200 East Route 38, Elburn, IL 60119, or sent via email.

All applicants must submit an application directly to ECFPD before taking the written exam.

Written Exam:
Applicants are required to take an online entrance examination. The exam process will be open from 7:00 a.m. on September 1, 2024, until 3:00 p.m. on October 18, 2024. The written exam must be completed by 3:00 p.m. on October 18, 2024.

A passing score requires 70% overall, with a 75% on the human relations portion. Failure to pass will result in disqualification from the hiring process.
Oral Interview:
Interviews will be scheduled, and candidates will be notified via email of their interview date and time.

Recruit Program Eligibility Requirements:
Candidates must commit to completing a rigorous training program or possess current Illinois Certifications for Firefighter/EMT.

Age: Must be 18 years old by October 18, 2024.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.
Language: Must speak, read, and write fluently in English.
Driver’s License: Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license. A copy must be provided with the application.
Education: Proof of High School Diploma or GED is required with the application.

Disqualifiers:
Felony/Criminal Activity: No felony or criminal convictions, probation, or supervision.
Driving Record: Must maintain a valid Illinois driver’s license and a good driving record.
Drug Use: No current illegal drug use. Certain drug convictions, including distribution or felony possession, are disqualifiers.

Program Acceptance:
Selection for conditional offers of program participation is based on performance in the written exam, oral interview, and the following evaluations:

Background Checks: Required upon acceptance of a conditional offer. Full cooperation is necessary.
Medical Physicals: Candidates clearing background checks will undergo physicals, including drug screening, hearing, vision, and a comprehensive occupational evaluation by Fire District physicians.
Upon acceptance into the program, candidates must adhere to all department rules, policies, and procedures to maintain good standing.
