Job Classification: Entry Level Police Officer
The Monroe Police Department is hiring for the position of Entry Level Police Officer. Candidates must complete the FrontLine National exam through the National Testing Network (NTN). Additionally, candidates must submit a department application. Failure to complete both the exam and application will disqualify candidates from the hiring process.
Salary Information:
Starting Pay: $62,580 for Officers in Training
Post Training Pay: $68,639
Top Pay: $94,295

Department Overview:
The Monroe Police Department is an advanced accredited law enforcement agency recognized by the Commission on Accredited Law Enforcement Agencies. The department is staffed with 39 sworn officers and 10 civilians, providing opportunities for specialized training in areas such as evidence technician, crash investigation/reconstruction, and tactical units. The department recently moved into a new, state-of-the-art facility.
Area Information:
The City of Monroe, located in southwest Ohio’s Warren and Butler Counties, is the fastest-growing city in Butler County. Monroe is home to several manufacturing and fulfillment centers, as well as an outlet mall located near the Interstate 75 interchange. The current estimated population is approximately 15,448.
Job Requirements:
Age: Must be at least 21 and no older than 35 at the time of appointment as a peace officer in Ohio.
Citizenship: Authorized to work in the U.S.
Education: High School Graduate or GED
Driver’s License: Yes (Must obtain an Ohio Operator’s License within six months of hire)
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
College: Preferred but not required
Academy Certification: Not required (the department will provide academy training). Candidates may enter the academy at age 20 but must be 21 at the time of state certification upon completion.

Disqualifiers:
Felony/Criminal Activity: Any felony conviction as an adult, any misdemeanor M-1 or M-2 conviction within the last five years, or a pattern of theft offenses.
Driving Record: Two or more moving violations in the last 12 months or an OVI conviction within the last six years.
Drug Use: No history of selling illegal substances or use of certain controlled substances within the past 24 months (e.g., cocaine, heroin, LSD, etc.). No marijuana use within the last 12 months.
Employment History: Dishonorable military discharge, fraudulent claims, or an adverse employment history, such as terminations or disciplinary actions.
Financial Issues: Continuing financial or credit problems, including garnishments or bankruptcy, failure to pay child support or alimony, or involvement in illegal gambling activities.
Appearance Standards:No visible tattoos, body markings, or excessive body piercings while in uniform.
Tattoos that are obscene, gang-related, or advocate discrimination are prohibited.
Any visible body alteration, including tongue, nose, eye, or brow piercings, must be surgically repaired as a condition of employment.
