FF/PM: $59,013 – $76,213.56 (top wage $101,873) based on experience
Lateral FF/PM:1-2 years of full-time experience: $69,984.85
2+ years of full-time experience: $76,213.56

Department Overview:
The Broadview Fire Department is comprised of 25 career personnel, including the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Inspector, 3 Captains, 3 Lieutenants, and Firefighter/Paramedics. Some members are assigned to specialized teams such as HazMat, Technical Rescue, and Arson. The department responds to approximately 3,500 emergency calls per year, with a minimum of 6 staff on duty per shift. The department’s engine is staffed with 4 personnel and provides auto-aid to neighboring departments like Maywood, Hillside, North Riverside, and Bellwood.

Additional Preference Points: Preference points are awarded for Proviso Township residency (with proof of residency for the last 12 months), BOF, and Paramedic certification.

New Vehicles: The department has a Pierce Rescue Pumper scheduled for delivery in 2024 and an Osage Ambulance expected in 2025.

Academy Certification: Must be certified as an EMT-Paramedic at the time of hire. Candidates should be enrolled in Paramedic school with a letter from the program director at the time of the exam.
Necessary Certifications: Must be 21 years old and a licensed paramedic at the time of hire. A CPAT card with ladder certification valid within six months of the hire date is required.
Additional Requirements: Candidates should submit proof of full-time Firefighter Paramedic experience if applicable. Out-of-state full-time firefighters will be sent to the fire academy, with salary adjustments based on experience. Military DD214 required if applicable.

Hiring Process:
Pass the NTN examination with a score of 70 or higher.
Complete a virtual oral interview through NTN.
Pass a thorough background investigation.
Pass a psychological assessment, medical screening, and drug screening. (Details for scheduling will be provided by the Village of Broadview Board of Fire and Police Commissioners).
Successfully complete the Illinois Firefighter Basic Operations Course if applicable.
