The Wood Dale Fire Protection District is hiring for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

Immediate Vacancy: 1 Position

Salary Information:
$82,530 – $114,390 (projected after 3 years)

Department Overview:
The Wood Dale Fire Protection District employs 26 full-time sworn personnel and one full-time administrative assistant. The team consists of 1 Fire Chief, 1 Deputy Chief, 3 Battalion Chiefs, 3 Lieutenants, and 18 firefighters, covering 3 shifts (24 hours on duty, 48 hours off duty). The department operates out of two fire stations and responds to approximately 2,500 calls per year, with 70% being EMS-related. The department is part of MABAS Division 12 and holds an ISO Class 2/2Y rating.

Area Information:
The district covers approximately 6 square miles in northeast DuPage County near O’Hare International Airport. It includes a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas, with 10 residential high-rises and portions of the I-390 Expressway.

College: Not required, but may qualify for preference points
Criminal Record: No felony convictions
Academy Certification: IL OSFM Firefighter II or IL OSFM BOF required
Prior Experience: Not required, but may qualify for preference points
Required Documentation:
Completed Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ)
Valid Driver’s License
High School Diploma or equivalent
Proof of U.S. Citizenship (e.g., birth certificate, valid passport, or naturalization papers)
IDPH or National Registry Paramedic License (or a letter from the paramedic school with expected graduation date)
IL OSFM BOF or Firefighter II Certification
Proof of passing CPAT
Additional Requirements:
Candidates must successfully pass the CPAT with Ladder Climb Certification from a licensed agency within 12 months prior to receiving a conditional offer of employment.

Preference Points:

Veterans/Military (5 Points): DD214 Long Form required
Previous Experience (5 Points): 2 years minimum experience with a District or Municipality required (private employer or contract service time not allowed)
In-System Paramedic (5 Points): Must be in good standing with Northwest Community EMS System
Education (5 Points): Bachelor’s or associate degree in a related field required
