CIVIL SERVICE COMPETITIVE EXAMINATION
Position: Full-Time Police & Fire Dispatcher
Accrued time transfers are available for laterals with police and fire dispatch experience.

Applications will be accepted from Thursday, August 1, 2024, through Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
No applications will be accepted after 4:00 PM on September 3, 2024.

Job Duties
Operating radio systems, answering, and transmitting emergency (911) and non-emergency calls.
Handling police, fire, and rescue calls for Macedonia and several other communities.
Performing computer data entry (CAD).
Applicants must be willing to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Shift Differential: 3 PM – 11 PM = $1.00; 11 PM – 7 AM = $1.50
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: $23.85 – $29.68 per hour, based on prior comparable police and fire dispatch experience (subject to collective bargaining agreement).

80 hours of vacation time after one year.
15 sick days per year.
14 holidays per year.
Uniform allowance.
Accrued time may be transferred.
Examination Information
Candidates must register and take the ECOMM National Exam, Typing Test, and Computer Simulations test through National Testing Network.
Scores must be submitted by 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
A passing grade of at least 70% on the proctored ECOMM examination is required to be ranked on the Macedonia Dispatch Eligibility List.
Additional Credit (with a passing grade of 70%):
5 points for a minimum of one-year police and fire dispatching experience.
5 points for military service (must provide DD 214 stating honorable discharge by September 3, 2024, to receive credit).
Final review and certification of the eligibility list are at the discretion of the Macedonia Civil Service Commission.
Additional Requirements
Eligible candidates must:
Pass psychological and polygraph tests.
Undergo drug screening (periodic screening required during employment).
Pass a background check.
Participate in a personal interview with the appointing authority.
Be a non-smoker and remain a non-smoker for the duration of employment.
