Job Requirements:
Age: Minimum 21
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or DACA recipient
Education: High School Diploma or GED required
Driver’s License: Valid state driver’s license required within six months of employment
Language: Ability to read and speak English
Vision: 20/40 corrected vision, free of colorblindness
Academy Certification: Required within six months of employment
Firearm Authorization: Must be authorized under federal law to possess a firearm
Additional Requirements:

Must be a resident of Illinois
No felony convictions; misdemeanors or serious traffic offenses may also disqualify candidates
Must be under 35 years of age, with certain exceptions for those currently employed as police officers
Must reside within 35 miles of Carpentersville within one year of hire
Must pass the P.O.W.E.R. Test by the final eligibility list posting date

Conditional job offer contingent on passing psychological evaluation, medical examination, and drug screening

Preference Points:
A maximum of 5 preference points may be awarded for:

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in law enforcement or criminal justice (5 points)
Experience: Certified Illinois Police Officers currently employed part-time or full-time (5 points)
Military Service: At least one year of military service with honorable discharge or active reserve duty (5 points)
Community Service Officer: Employed as a community service officer for the Village of Carpentersville for at least one year (3 points)

Salary and Specialty Assignments:
Salary Range: $75,319 – $109,491 (with education incentive), $79,116 – $115,011 (without education incentive)
Holiday Pay (Annual): $2,166 – $3,176 (with education incentive), $2,066 – $3,024 (without education incentive)
Sick Incentive (Annual): $600
Longevity: $50 per year of service, capped at 20 years
Specialty Assignments (eligible after two years of service):
Detective, Special Operations Group, FBI Task Force, Homeland Security Task Force, Warrant Service Team, K9 Handler, SWAT, Firearms Instructor, Mobile Field Force, Drone Operator, Major Accident/Crimes Investigation Task Force, Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, School Resource Officer, and Evidence Technician.
