Police Officer Recruitment
The Centerville Police Department is now accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer position, to establish an eligibility list for future placement (valid for up to 12 months from the date of eligibility). The Centerville Police Department is a Nationally Accredited law enforcement agency with a strong tradition of service excellence. Position Responsibilities:
Conduct criminal investigations and apprehend criminals.
Regulate traffic and enforce traffic laws.
Conduct preventive patrols.
Assist with investigations and respond to criminal and civil complaints.
Make arrests as required by law; process prisoners.
Prepare reports, affidavits, and maintain logs.
Receive, assist, and transmit emergency calls via radio or telephone.
Operate law enforcement equipment and instruments.
Maintain necessary licenses and certifications, including a valid Ohio driver’s license, Ohio Peace Officer Training Certificate, firearms proficiency, bonding, and physical fitness.
Work schedule includes rotating shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field, or equivalent;
OR current certification through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (or out-of-state equivalent) with two years of experience as a peace officer;
OR four years of continuous military service (active duty, guard, or reserve) with an honorable discharge or eligibility for honorable discharge;
OR two years of continuous military service with an honorable discharge or eligibility for honorable discharge, plus completion of at least 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years old by the time of academy completion.
Successful completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy or qualification for admittance.
Valid Ohio driver’s license.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary Range: $33.93 – $47.61 per hour.
