General Description and Qualifications:
Apply for the Grove City Police Officer position.
Sign up for the National Testing Network (NTN) Law Enforcement Exam and ensure your scores are sent to Grove City.
Both your Grove City application and NTN testing must be completed and scores applied to Grove City by October 13, 2024. Additionally, the online PRADCO assessment must be completed by October 29, 2024. Candidates passing the NTN will be invited to the physical test, scheduled for October 26 and October 27, 2024. In case of inclement weather, the physical test will take place on November 2 and/or November 3, 2024.
You must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application and under 35 at the time of appointment (December 17, 2024), unless previously appointed as a law enforcement officer.
The top 75 qualified candidates based on NTN scores will be invited to the physical test. Grove City calculates scores using each component of the NTN exam and standardizes them based on the pool of candidates who apply.

Job Requirements:
Age: Must be 20 years or older at the time of application and under 35 years at the time of appointment (December 17, 2024), unless previously appointed as a law enforcement officer.

Residency Requirement: Must reside within a 60-mile radius of police headquarters within six months of employment.
Necessary Certifications:
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a college degree is preferred but not required.
Must pass the written test (NTN), PRADCO review, and physical fitness test.
A comprehensive background investigation will be conducted, including a truth verification test, drug test, and psychological and medical evaluation.
Disqualifying Factors:
Disqualifying factors include, but are not limited to:
Honesty/Falsification: Providing false or misleading information during the application process or failing to disclose disqualifying behavior.
Personal History: Domestic violence, child abuse, or failure to meet financial responsibilities (e.g., non-payment of child support).
Employment: Multiple involuntary terminations within the past five years or resigning in lieu of termination from criminal justice employment.
Military History: Dishonorable or Bad Conduct Discharge from the military.
Traffic Violations: DUI convictions, reckless driving, multiple moving violations, or suspension of a driver’s license within the past three years.
Controlled Substances: Illegal drug use or purchase within the past five years, or patterns of controlled substance use.
Non-Responsiveness: Failing to appear for scheduled interviews, exams, or tests, or failing to respond to communications.
Physical Standards: Visible tattoos considered offensive or inappropriate, or failure to meet the physical fitness assessment standards.
Physical Standards:
Applicants must maintain fitness standards and be prepared to complete a physical fitness assessment. Tattoos considered extremist, indecent, sexist, or racist are prohibited. Tattoos visible while wearing a uniform must be covered.
Essential Functions of the Position:
Duties include patrolling, responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, issuing citations, making arrests, and ensuring public safety. Officers must maintain detailed records, appear in court, and participate in ongoing training. Physical demands include working in hazardous environments and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Acceptable Characteristics:
Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, arrest techniques, investigation techniques, and relevant laws. Skills in operating vehicles, firearms, and police equipment. Ability to exercise judgment, handle sensitive inquiries, and demonstrate physical agility.
