Position: Police Officer
The City of Lebanon, Ohio, is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. The Lebanon Division of Police, an internationally accredited agency, serves a population of over 20,000 residents across 14 square miles. The department includes 34 sworn officers, 9 dispatchers, and 1 administrative assistant. The city seeks candidates who possess strong personal character and professional skills to serve in this trusted public role.

Application Process:
Entry-level applicants (not currently employed full-time as peace officers) must complete a written test through the National Testing Network (NTN). Candidates who pass the exam will be invited to further stages of the hiring process.

Lateral applicants (currently employed full-time as peace officers) are exempt from the written test but must complete all other hiring stages. Prior service will be considered for starting pay and leave benefits.

All applicants must complete a City of Lebanon employment application, available at the Personnel Department located in the Lebanon City Building or online. Applications can be submitted via personal delivery, mail, or email to the Personnel Department.

Job Requirements:
Age: Must be at least 21 years old
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Driver’s License: Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license

Disqualifiers:
Felony/Criminal Activity: Applicants must not have any convictions for serious felonies or crimes related to job performance, theft, dishonesty, violence, or domestic violence.
Driving Record: Applicants must have a valid driver’s license for at least one year. Disqualifiers include recent convictions for DUI, reckless operation, multiple traffic violations, or at-fault accidents.
Drug Use: Applicants must not have used or been convicted of illegal drug use, sales, or possession (excluding marijuana) within the past five years. Marijuana use within the past three years is also disqualifying.
Employment History: Applicants must not have been fired for poor job performance in the last five years or have more than two disciplinary actions within the past two years.
Military: Must have an honorable discharge if applicable.
Financial Standing: Applicants must be current on all debts and support payments and have no debt judgments or criminal convictions related to finances within the past three years.
Tattoos: Tattoos on the neck or hands (except the ring finger) are prohibited. Visible tattoos may require long-sleeved uniforms, and tattoos deemed inappropriate by the Chief of Police are not allowed.
Organizations: Membership in subversive or racist organizations is prohibited.
