The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is a policy and advocacy organization representing nearly 200 groups in New York State, dedicated to fostering a welcoming and fair environment for all. The Vice President of Policy & Programs will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, overseeing the Policy and Programs department. Responsibilities include providing strategic guidance, representing the organization, leading policy development, and managing teams to achieve NYIC’s goals. The ideal candidate has extensive policy expertise, strong leadership skills, coalition-building experience, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The position involves on-site work with a staff-wide vaccine mandate.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Collaborate with the Executive Director to set organizational goals and priorities. Provide internal and external leadership to achieve overall priorities. Guide the policy agenda at federal, state, and local levels.
Organization: Represent NYIC to government officials and the public. Serve as a spokesperson for campaigns, engage in media outreach, and support fundraising efforts. Coordinate rapid response efforts when necessary.
Policy & Programs: Lead policy development and analysis on immigration issues. Monitor policy trends, conduct advocacy efforts, and build and maintain alliances. Ensure service coordination and delivery.
Management: Integrate Policy and Programs departments within the organization. Supervise and direct department teams, manage performance, guide professional development, and ensure adherence to organizational systems.

Candidate Profile:

Experience: 7-10 years of professional experience, with 2+ years in senior nonprofit leadership. Strong management skills, policy expertise, and knowledge of the New York policy landscape.

Skills: Excellent judgment, strategic vision, coalition-building, interpersonal and communication skills. Analytical ability, cultural competence, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Mostly on-site position (4 days per week), with staff-wide vaccine mandate. The NYIC staff continues to mask while in the office.

Compensation: Up to $135,000, along with benefits, unlimited paid time off, commuter benefits, and a comprehensive retirement plan. Transparent and equitable salary structure with no room for negotiation.
