The City of Bay Village is holding a competitive examination for the position of Entry-Level Police Officer from April 29, 2024, to June 23, 2024.
To be considered for employment as a Police Officer with the City of Bay Village, the following is required:
Completion of a competitive examination by June 23, 2024.

The candidate will not be considered if the items above are not submitted.
Additional Credits to Scores: To be added to the passing examination score, not to exceed a total of ten (10) points.
Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or Police Science Associate Degree, OR Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university in any field. (5 points)
Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certification for the full-time officer, plus two years experience (or 4160 hours equivalent) in the field (municipal or township police officer, deputy sheriff, university police officer, Ohio State Patrol Officer, or Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Police Officer). (5 points)
Current Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certification without experience. (2 points)
Honorably discharged veteran having served at least one continuous year of active military service in the Armed Forces of the United States. (5 points)
Documentation to receive additional credit must be submitted with the Civil Service application.

Salary Information:
Probationary $60,570 base annual salary/$29.12 Hourly Rate
After one year $67,205 base annual salary/$32.31 Hourly Rate
After two years $75,920 base annual salary/$36.50 Hourly Rate
After three years $86,195 base annual salary/$41.44 Hourly Rate

Job Requirements
Age: Minimum 21 years of age at the time of appointment
Maximum 40 years of age at the time of appointment
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid OHIO Driver’s License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Normal vision with or without corrections.
College: Preferred but not required
Academy Certification: Possess or be able to obtain a State of Ohio OPOTA certification
Prior Experience: Not required
Necessary Certifications: Possess or be able to obtain a LEADS Certification, Firearm Proficiency Qualification, and any other State of Ohio required licenses and/or certifications.
Hiring Process: You must complete the Civil Service application by the posted deadline. All documentation to support extra credit must be submitted with the application. The application must be submitted via mail, email, or in person.
Statement of Duties and Typical Tasks: Applicants must be able to complete a wide range of physical activities, including lifting, carrying, reaching, climbing, bending, swatting, pushing/pulling, twisting/turning, keyboarding, sitting, standing, walking, crawling and running.
