The Heath Police Department is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer.
The posting is for civil service testing. Frontline National testing is required for the civil service candidate list.
Testing through the Frontline National Testing network will be a continual list. Heath Police will submit the list of qualified candidates to civil service for certification.

All Candidates must complete the City of Heath application, which may be obtained online at www.heathohio.gov/employment. The Application, along with the following documents, must be submitted in addition to the NTN testing and PHQ
- Copy of a valid Driver’s License
- Ohio Peace Officer Certification, if available
- If extra credit for military service is desired, a copy of your DD214 Form must also be attached to the application.
The department requires the civil service candidate to complete a PHQ on the National Testing Network. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ must be completed by the closing date, or you may not be considered further in the process.
Salary Information: Probationary salary: $61,443.00
Salary range after probation: $65,580.00 – $85,057.00
Benefits Information: Vacation 40 hours after the completion of FTO (first year pro-rated then 2-5 weeks, depending on time with City), 11 holidays, four personal days, uniform allowance, sick leave (4.6 hours every two weeks), medical and dental insurance, disability insurance, $30,000 life insurance, tuition reimbursement, Ohio Police and Fire Retirement System, Military Leave.

Citizenship Required: Yes
High School Grad/GED: Yes
Valid OHIO Driver’s License: Yes
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: Have 20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 in both eyes
Necessary Certifications: The applicant is not required to have OPOTA certification, but those with it earn bonus points. Applicants without it must successfully complete and receive it within six (6) months of employment.
Hiring Process – Each applicant must:
- Complete an application with the City of Heath at http//www.heathohio.gov
- Complete the PHQ on the NTN application
- Complete and pass the NTN Testing
The City of Heath will provide a Physical fitness testing date. Qualified candidates who pass the NTN will be invited to attend the physical fitness testing. Failure to attain the 40th percentile of the Cooper Standards in Push-ups, Sit-ups, and the Mile and I/2 run will disqualify the candidate from further consideration.
Civil Service will score and rank those eligible candidates, and background investigations will be completed. Interviews will be offered to some candidates.
Conditional offers tendered to candidates will require successfully completing further testing.

Specific Disqualifiers/Behaviors:
Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Any Felony convictions
Driving Disqualifiers: OVI conviction in the last five years, or 2 or more OVI Convictions, Three moving traffic violations in the last three years.
Drug Use Disqualifiers: Drug offense conviction.
Additional Disqualifiers: Failure to appear at any scheduled portion of the selection process.
