Role Description

Quintava Consulting is inviting applications for a Conference Moderator – an government international conference scheduled to take place in Hargeisa, Somaliland, in October 2026.

The Summit will bring together senior representatives from government, regulatory institutions, the insurance and financial sectors, business and trade communities, international organizations, development partners, investors, experts, and other stakeholders for high-level discussions concerning the evolving insurance, trade and risk landscape of the Horn of Africa.

The selected Moderator will play a central role in facilitating panel discussions and conference sessions, engaging speakers and delegates, maintaining the flow and timing of discussions, and ensuring a professional, substantive and engaging environment throughout the Summit.

This is a short-term, on-site international opportunity requiring travel to Hargeisa, Somaliland.

Key Responsibilities

• Moderate panel discussions, expert sessions and other designated segments of the Summit.

• Introduce speakers, panelists and session themes in a professional and engaging manner.

• Prepare for sessions by reviewing speaker profiles, agendas, briefing materials and relevant background information.

• Develop and refine discussion questions and talking points in coordination with the organizing team.

• Facilitate substantive conversations covering insurance, financial inclusion, trade, investment, corridor and commercial risk, regulation, climate-related risk, regional economic development and international cooperation.

• Engage senior government officials, regulators, executives, international participants, experts and other high-level stakeholders confidently and respectfully.

• Manage session timing, speaker transitions and audience Q&A.

• Encourage balanced and inclusive participation among panelists while keeping discussions focused on the objectives of each session.

• Coordinate with conference organizers, protocol, logistics and technical teams during rehearsals and live sessions.

• Adapt professionally to schedule changes or other real-time requirements during the Summit.

• Assist in identifying and summarizing important insights and outcomes emerging from moderated discussions where required.

Qualifications

• Excellent English communication, public-speaking and interpersonal skills.

• Strong confidence and professional presence before large and high-level audiences.

• Ability to facilitate discussions involving participants from different professional, cultural and national backgrounds.

• Ability to understand and communicate complex topics relating to policy, business, finance, trade, insurance, development and international affairs.

• Strong organizational, preparation and time-management skills.

• Prior experience in conference moderation, public speaking, debating, broadcasting, journalism, event hosting or panel facilitation is preferred but not mandatory.

• Background or demonstrated interest in international relations, law, public policy, communications, journalism, economics, finance, business, development studies or related areas is beneficial.

• Fluency in English is required. Arabic and/or French would be an additional advantage.

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or above.

• Applicants should be comfortable undertaking international travel and must be available to travel to Hargeisa, Somaliland, in October 2026, including availability for necessary preparation and rehearsals.
