Scope: Sierra Club Wyoming has been a leader in our state since 1975 working to protect our environment for all residents and visitors. Our Wyoming staff work cooperatively with volunteer activists and grassroots supporters across the state, with a diverse array of partners, and with other regional and national Sierra Club staff. Our top conservation priorities are to slow climate change and minimize its most harmful impacts by ending fossil fuel production on public land; protecting our remaining undeveloped wild landscapes; protecting healthy and free-ranging wildlife; and maintaining high-quality, connected wildlife habitats. All aspects of this position will be grounded in principles of equity, justice, and inclusion.

The Wyoming Chapter Organizer will help lead assigned components of Sierra Club Wyoming’s land, wildlife, and energy campaign work, with primary focus on projects in northern and western Wyoming. The Organizer will work with Sierra Club staff, volunteer leadership, and partner organizations to implement strategic coordinated campaigns; help educate and engage Sierra Club members, supporters, partners, and the general public on our priority issues; and support networks of engaged volunteer activists across the state. As Communications Coordinator, this position will work with staff and volunteer leaders to help ensure a clear, consistent, and effective chapter voice and message across electronic and print outreach pieces that advance Sierra Club Wyoming’s goals and priorities. This position requires occasional evening and weekend work for volunteer meetings and public events; requires an ability to travel within the state with a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; and may require occasional out-of-state travel to regional or national meetings.

  • Public speaking & facilitation. You are comfortable speaking in front of large and small groups and leading group discussions. You are able to clearly convey information and help everyone share their ideas while moving through an intentional agenda. You are able to motivate groups of people to take action for a cause.

  • Equity analysis & practice. You are aware of your personal group identities and how they have shaped your life and experiences at work.
