Tammy Baldwin for Senate seeks a Deputy Political Director for Surrogates and Coalitions to join our growing team. This position will work within the political department to assist in the development of coalition groups that support the campaign’s brand and message such as Veterans for Tammy, Students for Tammy, etc. as well as manage surrogates travel to the state of Wisconsin. The ideal candidate will have a strong organizing background, experience in engaging diverse audiences and values that align with Democratic politics.
Responsibilities
● Build and engage diverse networks of TBFS validators, supporters, and advocates, including community partners, parents and caregivers, professionals across varied sectors, business leaders, members of the faith community and others.
● Help lead the coalition planning process for the campaign including building events for coalition launches.
● Working with the Political Director, senior campaign leadership and staff to ensure coalition groups are functioning at the highest levels and key updates are effectively communicated to all relevant supporters.
● Working with the Political Director, help recruit participants for campaign press events.
● Working with the National Finance Director, help oversee scheduling and provide logistical planning for surrogates that maximizes their participation and engagement across the state.
● Assist in preparing briefing materials.
● Travel with the candidate, brief her before events, and manage on the ground logistics. This may include driving the candidate.
● Other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
● 2–3+ cycles of experience working in politics, preferably for an electoral campaign or a firm, advocacy organization, or nonprofit.
● Experience working in Wisconsin is preferred.
● Minimum 1 cycle of experience managing and collaboration with coalition(s).
● Strong writing and verbal skills, including the ability to translate complex issues, concepts, and messages for coalition members.
● Deep affinity and background of organizing and leveraging political instincts effectively.
● Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to meet deadlines.
● Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
Compensation
● $7,000 per month
● Mileage reimbursement for campaign travel
